Living in Kosovo, near a power station called "Kosovo B," is not pleasant due to the sight of a chimney releasing dust into the village. The potential harm to the villagers is unknown. I dislike the presence of the power station so close to our homes. Instead, I envisioned fields and small houses, but the sight of the towering cylinders feels dystopian.
Across from my home, there is an abandoned house, and from there, one can clearly see Kosovo B. I had the idea to combine these two structures. The inspiration and materials I used have their own history. For instance, I found glass bottles filled with dirt and littered with trash in the new land. Among the findings were an old Yugoslavia coin from 1974, an old teddy bear, and a medicine bottle. Combining these items with the abandoned home creates an unknown memory brought to life.
Although this power station holds historical significance and provides jobs to the surrounding villages, it also leaves a mark of death. Kosovo A, in particular, releases dust into the air and has caused tragedies in the past for miners and villagers. It poses a hazard to those living nearby, with many broken promises of its demolition.
